About

Two disciplines, one way of working

I've worked in networking and telecoms since 2006 — starting on a college IT help desk, moving through infrastructure and telecoms engineering roles, and now working as a Senior Infrastructure Project Engineer for RA Information Systems in Chesterfield. Alongside that, I've run Canbury Sound & Technology since 2010, providing audio-visual and IT consultancy across Sheffield and London.

Both disciplines come down to the same thing — signal integrity: getting information from one point to another without loss, noise, or surprises. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Computing (Networks) from Sheffield Hallam University. I was previously a board trustee for the Talking News Federation, a charity for whom I recorded and distributed their annual conference.

"If the network drops mid-meeting or the mix falls apart mid-set, it's the same root cause — something wasn't planned well enough."

Network upgrade for The Musical Museum, Brentford

The Musical Museum is a charity and concert venue in Brentford housing one of the world's largest collections of self-playing instruments, including a fully restored Wurlitzer theatre organ, alongside a 240-seat concert hall and cinema. We deployed UniFi Network, UniFi Access and UniFi Protect across the site, giving the museum managed Wi-Fi, door access control, and CCTV on a single unified platform. Ongoing maintenance of the site is provided on a voluntary basis.

Microsoft 365 & cloud migration

Migrated email, files, and collaboration over to Microsoft 365 — Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint — and decommissioned legacy on-site servers in favour of the cloud, cutting hardware maintenance overhead while keeping data accessible and backed up wherever staff are working.

Let's fix what's not working.

Whether it's a network that keeps dropping or a room that never sounds right, I'll come and take a proper look. Based in Sheffield, working across South Yorkshire.
